hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Basham, 35, sustained an apparent break to his standing leg after attempting to make a cross during the first half and immediately fell to the ground.<\/p>\n<p>The fixture at Craven Cottage was brought to a halt for over 10 minutes to allow the veteran defender to receive treatment from paramedics.<\/p>\n<p>Several physios also surrounded the stricken centre back while players from both teams appeared visibly shaken by the extent of the grizzly injury.<\/p>\n<p>Basham was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and given a standing ovation, and responded by waving to the crowd and giving a thumbs-up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/07\/16\/76278409-0-image-m-2_1696693021342.jpg\" height=\"522\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sheffield United defender Chris Basham suffered a horrific lower leg injury against Fulham<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/07\/16\/76278401-0-image-a-3_1696693029686.jpg\" height=\"421\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Basham was given lengthy treatment for an apparent break before not yet been confirmed but Basham, who will now undergo tests at hospital, is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>On X, formerly Twitter, Sheffield United tweeted: &#8216;A stoppage in play as medics attend to a serious injury to Chris Basham.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Jack Robinson replaces Chris Basham who leaves Craven Cottage on a stretcher following a lengthy stoppage in play.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We send our best wishes to Bash, and will communicate updates as and when we have them.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" hospital, where he will undergo tests<\/p>\n<p>Fulham, taking to the same platform, added: &#8216;We&#8217;ve had a lengthy stoppage following a really nasty injury for Chris Basham, who will be stretchered off the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We&#8217;re all sending you our best wishes, Chris.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both sides entered the half-time break locked level at 0-0, with the whistle coming after 16 minutes of added time, reflecting the pause needed to treat Basham.<\/p>\n<p>Basham was making his 394th appearance for the club.<\/p>\n<p>Before the game, Sheffield United were without their
