ownership of Man United"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Zlatan Ibrahimovic DEFENDS the Glazers&#8217; ownership of Man United as the former Red Devils star insists &#8216;they are investing&#8217; and claims it is &#8216;wrong to say they are not doing what the fans expect them to do&#8217;<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Man United&#8217;s owners the Glazers are hugely unpopular among their fanbase<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Former Red Devils striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic defended the work they are doing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Zlatan Ibrahimovic has appeared to defend the Glazers in a move that is likely to enrage Manchester United fans.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish icon scored more than 500 goals during a glittering career which included\u00a0included a two-year spell at United, where he netted 29 times in 53 appearances and was part of the team that won the EFL Cup and Europa League in 2016-17.<\/p>\n<p>The Glazers have\u00a0<span>have been a source of contention at Old Trafford ever since they became majority owners in 2005, facing significant fan anger and backlash.\u00a0<\/span>After taking over the club through a leveraged buyout which placed \u00a3525million worth of loans onto the brand of United, they have racked up the club&#8217;s debts to \u00a3536m.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the Glazers have taken more than \u00a31bn out of United in the form of dividends, interests, costs and fees during their 18-year-reign, which has been dominated by a decline in on-pitch performance and success.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>United supporters have regularly protested against them, but Ibrahmovic seemed to defend their work at the club and insisted they are trying to help the team as much as they can.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/21\/76202425-12599751-Zlatan_Ibrahimovic_has_shed_light_on_his_tense_relationship_with-a-14_1696538045850.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Zlatan Ibrahimovic has defended the work of Manchester United&#8217;s owners, the Glazer family<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/21\/72538085-12599751-United_s_unpopular_American_owners_the_Glazers_pictured_Avram_an-a-15_1696538048915.jpg\" height=\"441\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Glazers have have been a source of contention at Old Trafford ever since they became owners in 2005, with fans regularly protesting against them (pictured &#8211; Avram and Joel)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, he said: &#8216;I think now in Man Utd, I don&#8217;t know, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it and that, but just a reminder, the owners are investing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is not like they are not investing because they brought in many players for a high amount of money.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So I think it&#8217;s a little bit wrong saying that they are not doing what the fans expect them to do, then I don&#8217;t know what the real reason is behind everything.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Erik ten Hag did receive significant backing in the transfer market this summer, bringing in Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and\u00a0Altay Bayindir for a cumulative outlay of \u00a3183.2m, while they also paid an \u00a38m loan fee for Sofyan Amrabat, with an option to make the deal permanent for a further \u00a321m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Glazers popularity has only decreased over the past 10 months, with the American family putting United up for sale back in November.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/21\/72538375-12599751-They_have_drained_more_than_1bn_out_of_the_club_since_their_leve-a-16_1696538053533.jpg\" height=\"427\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>They have drained more than \u00a31bn out of the club since their leveraged takeover in 2005<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/21\/76223835-12599751-image-a-18_1696538178234.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ibrahimovic spent two years at United and won the EFL Cup and Europa League with the club<\/p>\n<p>However, there has still been no sign of any progress despite front-runners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari royal Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani going head-to-head in the bidding war.<\/p>\n<p>Both parties have submitted multiple offers in the process &#8211;
