{"id":295129,"date":"2023-10-04T22:26:49","date_gmt":"2023-10-04T22:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=295129"},"modified":"2023-10-04T22:26:49","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T22:26:49","slug":"f-those-country-club-kids-koepkas-rant-on-liv-critics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/golf\/f-those-country-club-kids-koepkas-rant-on-liv-critics\/","title":{"rendered":"&apos;F*** those country club kids&apos;: Koepka&apos;s &apos;rant on LIV critics&apos;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Brooks Koepka went on foul-mouthed rant about fellow pros &#8211; such as Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth &#8211; after criticism over his decision to join LIV Golf, new book claims: &#8216;F*** all of those country club kids&#8217;<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><b>A soon-to-be-released book &#8216;LIV and Let Die&#8217; details golf&#8217;s recent civil war\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Brooks Koepka is said to have slammed his critics to fellow LIV Golf defectors<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span>DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Brooks Koepka launched a foul-mouthed tirade against fellow players &#8211; such as Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas &#8211; after criticism over his decision to join LIV Golf, telling other defectors:\u00a0&#8216;F*** all of those country club kids&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>That is according to a new book, &#8216;LIV and Let Die&#8217;, which details the ugly fallout from golf&#8217;s bitter civil war between the PGA Tour and the Saudi breakaway.<\/p>\n<p>Koepka, a five-time major winner, was among the most high-profile players to ignore the outcry and join LIV Golf.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;LIV and Let Die&#8217; claims that, following the breakaway&#8217;s second tournament in 2022, the rebel tour put on a jet to carry players to the JP McManus Pro-Am in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>There they rubbed shoulders with PGA Tour loyalists and following the closing party, Koepka was joined in a bar by fellow LIV golfers\u00a0Jason Kokrak, Pat and Ashley Perez, and Dustin Johnson.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/04\/22\/76177863-12594961-image-a-6_1696453455087.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Brooks Koepka reportedly launched a tirade against critics of his decision to join LIV Golf<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/04\/22\/76177843-12594961-image-a-7_1696453464304.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;F*** all of those country club kids,&#8217; Koepka supposedly said about the likes of Jordan Spieth (L) and Justin Thomas (R)<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Despite the relaxed setting, Koepka radiated some heat when reflecting on his career change. \u201cF*** all of those country club kids who talk shit about me,\u201d he said, referring to the likes of Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and others,&#8217; Shipnuck writes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the 33-year-old is said to have offered a heartfelt explanation for his defection.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;\u201cYou think I give a f*** what they think? You think I care what people say about me? I just had three surgeries, and I\u2019m supposed to turn down $130 million?&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;&#8221;I grew up with nothing. After signing that contract, the first person I called was my mom. We both cried.\u201d&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/04\/22\/76177807-12594961-Koepka_was_teammates_with_Spieth_Thomas_and_many_PGA_loyalists_a-a-9_1696453554011.jpg\" height=\"406\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Koepka was teammates with Spieth, Thomas and many PGA loyalists at last week&#8217;s Ryder Cup<\/p>\n<p>Back in June, the PGA and DP World Tour announced a merger with Saudi Arabia&#8217;s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which bankrolls LIV.<\/p>\n<p>And only last week, Koepka was teammates with Spieth, Thomas and many PGA loyalists at the Ryder Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NBC&#8217;s coverage of the match attracted only 1.41million average viewers on Saturday and 1.32million on Sunday as Team USA fell to Team Europe at Marco Simone in Rome.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s down big from when the tournament was last played across the pond &#8211; where 2.12m viewers watched on Saturday and 2.47m watched on Sunday at Le Golf National outside Paris.<\/p>\n<p>Part of that drawback can be attributed to the start of the events.
