Liverpool fans were hit with yet another blow after learning that Curtis Jones has to serve a three-match Premier League suspension.

The Anfield faithful were still reeling from the release of the audio that led to Luis Diaz' goal against Tottenham being wrongfully ruled out due to a monumental blunder. Jones, 22, had his red card appealed by the club after the fixture but will now miss games against Brighton, Everton and Nottingham Forest.

The English midfielder was sent off by referee Simon Hooper following a VAR check after his studs planted into the shin of Yves Bissouma in the 26th minute. The appeal has now failed after an appeal to overturn it was unsuccessful.

A third blasted: "This is a big mess! What a absolute shambles and a joke." A fourth fan continued: "They were never going to accept the appeal as it’d be an admission of two huge errors in one game."

A fifth wrote: "Shameless and ridiculous decision." A sixth concluded: "Disgraceful from the FA… even after they wrongly disallowed our goal." The announcement came after PGMOL audio showed the moment their monumental Diaz blunder cost Liverpool the lead.

The audio includes the voices of the linesman, who flags for offside as well as the VAR Darren England and assistant VAR Dan Cook who checked with the lines and found quickly that Diaz was well onside. The call of check complete follows, with the replay operator then telling the team that the on-field decision was in fact offside.
