{"id":294330,"date":"2023-09-28T19:33:51","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T19:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=294330"},"modified":"2023-09-28T19:33:51","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T19:33:51","slug":"exclusive-premier-league-and-efl-agree-to-sell-tv-rights-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/exclusive-premier-league-and-efl-agree-to-sell-tv-rights-together\/","title":{"rendered":"EXCLUSIVE: Premier League and EFL agree to sell TV rights together"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>EXCLUSIVE: Premier League and EFL agree to sell their TV rights together for the first time &#8211; with the Football League set for an \u00a388m bonus payment this season as part of the historic deal<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Premier League have agreed to sell their TV rights together with the EFL<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It should ensure the funding of EFL clubs rises in line with Premier League teams<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail Sport&#8217;s new WhatsApp Channel: Get the breaking news and exclusives here<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Premier League have reached a historic deal with the EFL in which they have agreed to sell their television rights together for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Under the terms of a proposal from the Premier League that was presented to clubs earlier today the EFL will also receive 14.75 per cent of their pooled media rights from next season and an \u00a388million bonus payment this season, with collective selling to begin in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>The details presented to EFL clubs at a meeting in Derby represent a major breakthrough in what has been a protracted stand-off with the Premier League for several years, and will lead to an immediate increase in funding for the lower divisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the exact figures will depend on future television deals the 14.75 per cent share is expected to more than double the current \u00a3130m in solidarity payments the Premier League provide to the EFL, a figure which excludes parachute payments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The agreement to sell television rights on a collective basis is also hugely significant, and should ensure that the funding of EFL clubs rises in line with that of the Premier League.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/28\/19\/75949709-12572519-The_Premier_League_have_agreed_to_sell_their_television_rights_w-a-38_1695927559397.jpg\" height=\"426\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Premier League have agreed to sell their TV rights together with the EFL for the first time<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/28\/20\/75950017-12572519-image-a-57_1695928232984.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>In the proposal, the EFL will receive 14.75 per cent of the Premier League&#8217;s pooled media rights<\/p>\n<p>While the deal presented today is only for the collective selling of overseas TV rights from the 2028-29 season onwards, it could be extended to included domestic TV deals in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This sales model would be welcomed by broadcasters, particularly Sky Sports, as it would give them more certainty over future content.<\/p>\n<p>The Premier League\u2019s current overseas TV contracts are worth around \u00a35billion over three years and their value has outstripped that of domestic deals, with the EFL due to go to market with their overseas rights for 2024 to 2028 in the next few weeks.
