Gylfi Sigurdsson has broken his silence after completing his return to football at Danish side Lyngby.<\/p>\n
Sigurdsson, 33, had been without a club since he left Everton at the end of the 2021\/22 season after his contract wasn\u2019t extended at Goodison Park.<\/p>\n
The 78-time Iceland international joined Everton in 2017 from Swansea City in a club-record \u00a340million deal, Sigurdsson also played for Tottenham Hotspur and racked up 318 Premier League appearances across 10 years.<\/p>\n
Sigurdsson last played a competitive game during Everton\u2019s 5-0 defeat on the final day of the 2020\/21 season against Manchester City, but Lyngby have now offered him a way back.<\/p>\n

The creative midfielder has penned a 12-month contract in Denmark and spoke of his excitement about returning to football.<\/p>\n
Sigurdsson said: \u201cI hope that I can come in and contribute with a lot of experience and quality.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that there are a lot of young and talented players in the team, and I really want to learn from me so that we can lift ourselves up together.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been very well received by the boys in the squad and they seem fantastic. I sense that it is a very well-balanced squad, and I am very happy to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sigurdsson\u2019s delight at signing is also shared in the boardroom by club director Nicas Kjeldsen.<\/p>\n

He said on the coup: \u201cThere is no doubt that we are incredibly proud and happy that we can present Gylfi Sigurdsson as a Lyngby player,' club director Nicas Kjeldsen said.<\/p>\n
\u201cGylfi is a player from a tier that we cannot normally bring players from, which is why it is a testament to our club, environment and great development that we can attract a player of his quality.<\/p>\n
\u201cGylfi has not played football in the past few years, which is why we will, of course, be patient with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
