They&#8217;re all ruining the our [sic] game!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Fans were quick to respond to Jenas, pointing out his hypocrisy after he was the face of the FA&#8217;s &#8216;Love Football, Protect the Game&#8217; campaign just before the beginning of the season.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75816657-0-image-m-3_1695657218814.jpg\" height=\"774\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jermaine Jenas has apologised for his controversial tweet during the north London derby<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75816617-0-image-a-4_1695657256436.jpg\" height=\"165\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75816619-0-image-a-5_1695657264321.jpg\" height=\"140\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>And the 40-year-old has now accepted that he was in the wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to Twitter on Monday, he wrote: &#8216;I hold my hands up, I got it wrong yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I should know, more than most, the responsibility we have as fans, players and pundits and the impact our words online can have as it&#8217;s an area I&#8217;ve been vocal in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;My emotions got the better of me and I apologise to The FA and to all match officials.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Love Football, Protect the Game&#8217; campaign<span>\u00a0was launched collectively by the FA, the Premier League, EFL, Women&#8217;s Super League, Women&#8217;s Championship, non-league steps 1-4 and referees&#8217; body PGMOL.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75804813-0-Jenas_posted_this_on_social_media_in_the_aftermath_saying_refere-a-6_1695657288240.jpg\" height=\"159\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jenas posted this on social media in the aftermath, saying referees are &#8216;ruining our game&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75804823-0-Jermaine_Jenas_fronted_a_campaign_ahead_of_the_season_calling_fo-a-7_1695657307438.jpg\" height=\"365\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jermaine Jenas fronted a campaign ahead of the season calling for referees to be shown greater respect &#8211; but that didn&#8217;t stop him tweeting about &#8216;sh**house referees ruining the game&#8217; during Sunday&#8217;s north London derby<\/p>\n<p>In a launch video, Jenas says: &#8216;The emotions of the game get to us all. I know all about that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;But whether out on the pitch, in the stands or on the sidelines, we&#8217;ve all got to do better, at all levels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;No more surrounding refs, no more abuse, no more intimidation, no more discrimination.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Jenas was also blasted by charity RefsupportUK after his comments on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>They wrote on X: &#8216;This is a disgraceful tweet and you should be ashamed.
