Displaced Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was seen applauding David Raya after he made a wondersave against Tottenham.

Ramsdale seems to have lost his spot as Mikel Arteta's No. 1 having been benched for three games on the trot in all competitions. Summer signing Raya, who arrived in a £3m loan deal from Brentford with a £27m option to buy next summer, has taken the mantle.

And he made a stunning stop in the first half of Sunday's North London Derby to deny Brennan Johnson, whose first-time effort inside the box looked destined for the back of the net. Raya managed to claw it away with his right arm fully extended.

"I understand [his frustration] and it's very difficult for every player," the Arsenal boss said.

"He's been very supportive and good around the place and that's what I expect from every single player because when you're on the field there is someone else who's not so it works both ways. So far he's been very good.

"It is hard and with other players it's the same. Aaron is an exceptional character and has a charisma and aura around him and we all know that. We have to deal with that but I need to make a line-up to prepare for the game."
