SEG were involved in the signings of Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat, as well as the sale of Zidane Iqbal to Utrecht.

Ten Hag has been criticised in the past for only signing players he has previously worked with.

But when asked if the relationship between United and his agent appeared unhealthy, the Dutchman said: "It can't be, because we make very good agreements about it from the start. How we cooperate in that manner, for player decisions, transfers, it's always 50-50.

"We both have a veto, the club, represented by John Murtough (director of football), and me. So there can never be a distraction."

Distractions are all around Ten Hag right now, ahead of a trip to Burnley where another defeat would be unthinkable. Ten Hag refused to discuss the sale of the club and was reluctant to talk about the on-going issues with Sancho, who has been suspended and is training on his own away from the squad.

Ten Hag confirmed Sancho was still not being considered for selection – and was desperate to steer the narrative towards his must-win game at Turf Moor.

Ten Hag, who is expected to welcome back Raphael Varane and Mason Mount to the squad, added: "I've already explained the reasons. There are no excuses. He (Sancho) is not training with the team.

"I think let's focus on Burnley. We have said everything about it, don’t you think?"
