UFC legend Anderson Silva has deleted an X-rated post that criticised comparisons with himself and Israel Adesanya.

The mixed martial arts world is still digesting the shock results from UFC 293 on Saturday night, where Adesanya was defeated by Sean Strickland in their UFC middleweight title bout.

It was a surprise defeat for ‘Stylebender’, who had been expected to breeze past the American in their bout in Sydney, Australia.

And, following the news, a number of the sport’s biggest stars have spoken out – including former UFC middleweight champion Silva.

Comparisons between the two stars have been circulating ever since Adesanya made his debut in the organisation but, after the result at UFC 293, the Brazilian shared stern words for ‘Stylebender’.

Silva (pictured), who left the UFC in 2020, shut down comparisons with ‘Stylebender’

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Silva wrote: ‘I’m the one in charge of this s*** here, and you’re not going to open your mouth again to compare yourself to me in this s***. Do you understand? I’m the one in charge of this s*** here.’

The post was quickly removed by Silva but fans were quick to re-share it before he deleted the evidence.

Silva is known as one the company’s best ever fighters, following his long-standing run as the UFC’s middleweight champion from 2006-2012.

Conflict between the two had been unexpected, given the praise which ‘Stylebender’ had previously showed towards Silva.

When they fought at UFC 234 back in 2019, where Adesanya won via unanimous decision, the New Zealand fighter revealed how the Brazilian ‘inspired’ his MMA career.

‘This guy inspired me to be able to believe a skinny black guy can just come in here and f*** everyone up. He brought me into this game and for me, it will be an honour to take him out the game,’ Adesanya revealed.

‘Stylebender’ suffered his second defeat from his last three fights, having also been defeated by rival Alex Pereira before avenging that loss five months later.

On Saturday night, Strickland pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history when he beat his opponent via unanimous decision to be crowned the new champion against all odds.

All three judges scored the bout 49-46 in favour of the 32-year-old, who is known for his out-of-the-ring sexist comments and murderous desires.

Adesanya came out on top when he and Silva shared the octagon at UFC 234 back in 2019

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor said that Strickland’s use of ‘spar only’ training was the reason for the upset.

McGregor took to social media platform X to react to Strickland’s win and emphasise the incredible nature of MMA.

He tweeted: ‘The ‘spar only’ method crowns the new UFC middleweight world champion.

‘Well done Sean. Unlucky Izzy. Two quality operators as well as complete opposite characters facing off, where else would you get it. Incredible! What a sport. What a company! UFC is King.’
