Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has already identified four positions he plans to strengthen next summer, according to reports. The Dutchman has spent big in his first two summer transfer windows at Old Trafford, and United are also preparing for a busy period at the end of the current campaign.

The 2023 window only slammed shut earlier this month, but Ten Hag has allegedly planned ahead for the third year of his project.

He splashed £229million on five permanent transfers in his maiden season before committing another £188m on four more – and Sofyan Amrabat’s season-long loan – this summer.

Ten Hag has upgraded several positions with his own targets, but his rebuild is far from done after a positive start.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United plan to recruit further reinforcements at full-back, centre-back, central midfield and attack next year.

The Red Devils are said to retain an interest in Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba for the two defensive positions.

Ten Hag considered approaches for both this summer, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s improvement and Harry Maguire’s stay shelved intentions.
