Novak Djokovic has certainly enjoyed a sing-along at the US Open, as this year’s winner broke into song once again following his final victory over Daniil Medvedev in New York. The Serb was conducting an interview that sharply turned into a karaoke duet, after previously serenading the crowd with a tune at Flushing Meadows.

Shortly after his 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 win over Medvedev, Djokovic was parading the trophy around the Arthur Ashe Stadium and conducting interviews with the media. Clearly in a celebratory mood, the 36-year-old was discussing the match with ESPN before it took a turn into a karaoke with the interviewer.

Prepared for the situation, the interviewer had a piece of paper with the lyrics on it for Frank Sinatra’s classic ‘My Way’ which he sang with Djokovic. The 24-time Grand Slam winner was then given the opportunity to shine on his own, belting out the remainder of the song with the US Open trophy in his hand before shouting “Vamos” and moving along.

It is not the first time Djokovic has broken into song at the Major, having stopped his on-court interview with Rennae Stubbs to take the microphone and belt out Beastie Boys’ ‘Fight For Your Right’ after it was played by the arena’s DJ following his quarter-final victory over Taylor Fritz.

Just very humid conditions, difficult to play but for both players it’s the same. That’s why we train, try to get ourselves in the best possible conditions to deliver. Not easy but you gotta fight and as the song went five minutes ago – you gotta fight for your right to party.”

Djokovic also celebrated his Australian Open victory earlier this year with song, as former Aston Villa striker Savo Milosevic was in attendance. He and the tennis star sang renditions of several local tunes in a restaurant in front of dozens of people with Djokovic’s wife Jelena and his parents Srjdan and Dijana involved.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
