Tottenham will be getting a potential star of the future by signing Luka Vuskovic, who is reportedly set to join the north Londoners from Hadjuk Split by the end of this week. The 16-year-old was thought to have been a target for several big clubs, including the likes of Manchester City, PSG and Bayern Munich, but now looks set to sign for Tottenham over the coming days.

Vuskovic had his heart set on moving to Spurs, according to Fabrizio Romano, with a deal having already been reached at club level. Personal terms are now being finalised before Vuskovic will be able to undergo a medical and put pen to paper with his new employers.

Tottenham will certainly have an exciting prospect on their hands in Vuskovic, with the young defender having been widely tipped to enjoy a bright future at the highest levels of the game. He towers over the vast majority of his peers at six feet and four inches tall, giving him a formidable aerial presence at the back.

Vuskovic is a product of the Hadjuk Split academy and is the youngest Croatian to have played and scored in the UEFA Youth League. He made his unofficial debut at just 15 years of age, playing in a friendly against third-tier side Urania in September last year.

Vuskovic bagged his first senior goal three days later, finding the back of the net against NK Osijek to become the youngest scorer in Hadjuk Split’s 112-year history.

Vuskovic comes from a footballing family, with his father, grandfather and great-grandfather having all played for Hadjuk Split during their respective careers. His brother Mario is also a professional footballer and left Hadjuk Split last year to sign for Hamburg in Germany’s second tier.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. He is particularly adept at playing out from the back, which will stand him in good stead to succeed under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

The teenage defender is also positionally strong and often displays a high level of footballing intelligence that defies his young age. It remains to be seen if he will reach his sky-high potential at Spurs, although he will certainly be one to watch if he manages to break into the senior squad over the coming years.

Want the latest Premier League news as we publish it on Express Sport?
