{"id":292019,"date":"2023-09-10T13:35:15","date_gmt":"2023-09-10T13:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=292019"},"modified":"2023-09-10T13:35:15","modified_gmt":"2023-09-10T13:35:15","slug":"israel-adesanya-shows-off-black-eye-and-busted-lip-after-defeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/mma\/israel-adesanya-shows-off-black-eye-and-busted-lip-after-defeat\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel Adesanya shows off black eye and busted lip after defeat"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Israel Adesanya shows off black eye and busted lip as he necks whisky after losing his UFC middleweight world title in shock defeat against Sean Strickland<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Israel Adesanya was left with a black eye and bloody lip after his latest defeat<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The 34-year-old lost his UFC middleweight title against Sean Strickland<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He later relaxed with a glass of whisky before heading out to party\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Israel Adesanya showed off his war wounds after conceding his UFC middleweight world title to Sean Strickland inside the Octagon on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The result of stunned the MMA world with Adesanya heavy favourite going into the contest but struggling to deal with Strickland&#8217;s ring dominance and striking throughout the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>A unanimous decision handed Adesanya his second defeat in three fights as his opponent capitalised on being handed a late call-up to face the ex-champion after\u00a0Dricus du Plessis pulled out through injury.<\/p>\n<p>Adesanya was too emotional to speak more than two sentences at his post-fight press conference, telling the media, &#8216;Life throws curveballs at you,&#8217; before leaving but has since reflected on his loss on social media.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old first filmed himself while being driven and lifted up his sunglasses to reveal black swelling underneath his left-eye.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/10\/12\/75264825-12501335-image-a-15_1694345516074.jpg\" height=\"438\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Israel Adesanya (left) was beaten by Sean Strickland (right) on Sunday evening<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/10\/12\/75264813-12501335-image-m-19_1694345528445.jpg\" height=\"463\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/10\/12\/75264815-12501335-image-m-21_1694345545181.jpg\" height=\"463\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Adesanya showed off his black eye on social media after the fight with significant swelling underneath his left-eye<\/p>\n<p>He then proceeds to prod at the facial injury with his finger before revealing the inside of his bottom lip had been cut as well.<\/p>\n<p>His jokey persona also appears to have returned after initially being upset by the loss and narrates while filming himself: &#8216;I hate losing but I love living.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;And I&#8217;m thriving so, yeah, hang out with the family first, and [then] I&#8217;ll address the people. But right now I gotta put me first.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He pans the video round to show family members in the rear of the vehicle before providing another update an hour later from the confines of a penthouse.<\/p>\n<p>Adesanya delves deeper into his feelings after losing his title belt and proceeds to drink whisky and eat food while family and friends mingle in the background.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/10\/12\/75264817-12501335-image-m-23_1694345570208.jpg\" height=\"769\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old also showed he had suffered a cut and bloody lip but was in good spirits<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/10\/12\/75264851-12501335-image-m-25_1694345602237.jpg\" height=\"661\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Adesanya later drank a glass of whisky before heading out to party after his shock defeat<\/p>\n<p>His follow-up Instagram story is captioned: &#8216;You wouldn&#8217;t get it,&#8217; alongside an emoji showing a glass of whisky.<\/p>\n<p>The bottle appears to be Japanese and Adesanya proceeds to &#8216;cheers&#8217; the camera before taking a sip and showing off a half-devoured plate of food.<\/p>\n<p>He states: &#8216;I love this s***.
