{"id":291417,"date":"2023-09-06T05:34:34","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T05:34:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=291417"},"modified":"2023-09-06T05:34:34","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T05:34:34","slug":"jelena-dokic-slams-tennis-star-for-dodgy-act-at-the-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/tennis\/jelena-dokic-slams-tennis-star-for-dodgy-act-at-the-us-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Jelena Dokic slams tennis star for dodgy act at the US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Jelena Dokic slams tennis star Karolina Muchova for dodgy act at the US Open that made her opponent lash out at the umpire<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Czech star leaves court for lengthy break<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Opponent is left fuming at umpire<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dokic also questions the strange move<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Former Australian tennis star Jelena Dokic has queiried Karolina Muchova for taking a lengthy break\u00a0after winning the first set against Sorana Cirstea at the US Open on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Czech star Muchova\u00a0overwhelmed Romania&#8217;s Cirstea 6-0 6-3 in stifling conditions to progress through to the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>However, Cirstea was left furious following the first set when Muchova chose to leave the court for an extended period.<\/p>\n<p>Cirstea wanted to get on with the match and had a heated exchange with the umpire over the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I am the one waiting for her to serve,&#8217; Cirstea told the official.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/06\/04\/75103381-12485205-image-a-123_1693971055857.jpg\" height=\"352\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sorana Cirstea had a heated exchange with the umpire after her opponent\u00a0Karolina Muchova took a lengthy break between sets<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/06\/04\/75103393-12485205-image-a-118_1693970012677.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Muchova went on to beat Cirstea 6-0 6-3 in their US Open match<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I don&#8217;t understand what you want from me.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Dokic was also confused by the Czech star&#8217;s exit from the court after winning the set.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She went for a change of shirt and usually you don&#8217;t do that when you&#8217;ve got the momentum,&#8217; Dokic said in commentary for Channel Nine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Not only the momentum but she won 6-0.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Muchova also sparked controversy after taking a medical timeout while playing Ash Barty at the Australian Open in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>She looked overwhelmed by the Aussie after the first set, but came back completely refreshed after a break.<\/p>\n<p>The Czech star went on to beat Barty and later admitted she wasn&#8217;t injured, but rather needed to focus.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Russian star Daniil Medvedev has been criticised for a similar act of &#8216;gamesmanship&#8217; against Aussie Alex de Minaur on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The 13th-seeded de Minaur shocked the world No.3 in their round of 16 clash by taking the first set 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>That prompted Medvedev to gather up his entire kit bag and leave the court for an extended period, returning in a complete change of clothes.<\/p>\n<p>After struggling in the first set, the re-energised Russian found his mojo during the extended break and cruised through the next three sets to turn the match on its head, ultimately winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/06\/04\/75103391-12485205-image-m-121_1693970150119.jpg\" height=\"578\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former tennis star Jelena Dokic questioned the tactics from the Czech star<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/06\/04\/75103595-12485205-image-a-122_1693970334984.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Daniil Medvedev was criticised for a similar act of &#8216;gamesmanship&#8217; against Alex de Minaur<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Australian doubles champion Todd Woodbridge was also scathing in commentary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This is a strange situation in the match,&#8217; Woodbridge said on Channel Nine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;A 31-minute set, Medvedev leaves the court, took his whole bag&#8230; why do you need to leave the court for that long?<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s not a toilet break, is he changing full kit? Shouldn&#8217;t that be at a certain time?
