Even though the transfer window closed on Friday evening, Manchester United are able to still bring in more players as free agents can continue to be signed and registered by Premier League teams past the September 1 deadline. The Red Devils have not been against signing out-of-contract stars in the past, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani both joined without fees before their successful Old Trafford spells. Here, Express Sport has looked at four players still available that United could sign after the summer deadline closed.

Even though United spent £72million to land Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, they still look light up top as Anthony Martial has struggled to prove his long-term fitness and Marcus Rashford visibly seems to prefer playing on the left, as opposed to the central role he occupied in his first two league games of the season.

Moussa Marega has been without a club since leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, but has been a prolific scorer in Europe previously with Porto and should United feel the need to sign another forward then there are few better on the free agent market than the 32-year-old French striker.

JUST IN Sergio Reguilon faces awkward Man Utd reunion with Maguire after altercation[REACTION]

Former Chelsea hero Eden Hazard has been without a club since terminating his contract with Real Madrid, after a dismal time in Spain following his initial £88m move from Stamford Bridge in 2019. He has not been short of offers since leaving the Bernabeu, however, as Spanish outlet AS say that teams from England, Spain, France, Scotland, Saudi Arabia and the US have offered him a contract.

A move to United would certainly tempt the Belgian, who has dazzled in the Premier League previously and was a two-time champion with Chelsea – winning the Player of the Season award in 2014/15. If Erik ten Hag did feel that further quality in attack was necessary, Hazard as a low-risk signing may appeal.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info

Don’t miss…

Raphael Varane has already picked up an injury this season and is set to be ruled out for several weeks, having been forced off in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest last week. With the France defender increasingly becoming a worry over his fitness, further cover may be desired at the back.

Sergio Ramos has proven himself to be one of the best centre-backs in the world in previous years and would be available for free after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Though United would likely face competition from Roma and Saudi Arabia, who have both been linked with the 37-year-old.

United can also let players leave after the deadline, as some countries’ windows remain open still. The Saudi Pro League are able to continue signing players up until September 7, while Turkey’s market closes two weeks after the Premier League’s – on September 15.

That does mean that fringe players such as Eric Bailly, who have so far failed to seal a transfer exit despite being deemed surplus to requirements, can still leave Old Trafford. He does have interest from the Middle East and Turkish clubs, giving United another opportunity to offload the Ivorian even though they cannot buy any more players.

Moussa Marega
