Ben Foster has opened up about how much money he used to earn while playing for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
The former England international left Wrexham in August and went back into retirement after making 12 appearances for the Welsh club.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, Foster revealed what his weekly wage was during the peak of his powers at West Brom.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The goalkeeper made 223 appearance for the Baggies between 2012 and 2018, and admitted that he was one of the club’s best-paid players during that time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Foster said: ‘In my first contract in 2012 at West Brom, I think it was \u00a340,000 a week.<\/p>\n

‘I was one of the higher earners, I definitely wasn’t the top earner but one of the higher earners.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 40-year-old left West Brom to join Watford after the Baggies had been relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Foster would stay at Vicarage Road for four seasons before announcing his retirement.<\/p>\n
He was tempted out of retirement by former club Wrexham, and the one-time Manchester United goalkeeper helped the Hollywood-owned club win promotion back to the Football League last term.<\/p>\n
Although Foster suffered relegation during spells at Birmingham City and Watford, he managed to help keep West Brom in the top flight until his final season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Foster recently left League Two side Wrexham after helping the club to promotion to the EFL<\/p>\n

The goalkeeper is a former England international and spent the majority of his career turning out for Premier League clubs<\/p>\n
He revealed that his wage would have dropped significantly had he remained at the club in the Championship if they had been relegated after signing his initial four-year contract in 2012.<\/p>\n
Foster said: ‘I had a clause in my contract. My wages went down to \u00a325,000 if we got relegated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘So I would have been in the Championship with West Brom, with three years left on my deal, on \u00a325,000 a week.<\/p>\n
\u00a0‘If we had got promoted again the very next season, they would have gone back up to \u00a340,000 [a week].’<\/p>\n
