    Virgil van Dijk has been charged by The FA and is set to be slapped with an extended ban following his actions on Sunday afternoon when he was sent off during Liverpool's win over Newcastle.<\/p>\n

    The Dutchman was deemed to have denied a goalscoring opportunity when he clattered through the back of Alexander Isak in the 28th minute.<\/p>\n

    Under normal circumstances, Van Dijk would only receive a one-game ban – as his challenge wasn't considered violent. However, due to his actions after being given his marching orders, Van Dijk will have a longer suspension.<\/p>\n

    Liverpool's star refused to leave the field for several minutes, giving John Brooks an earful in the process. Van Dijk was then spotted arguing with fourth official Stuart Attwell as he made his way down the tunnel.<\/p>\n

    And The FA have now charged the defender with a breach of FA Rule E3.1 – It\u2019s alleged that Van Dijk acted in an improper manner and\/or used abusive and\/or insulting words towards a match official.<\/p>\n

    Speaking after the game Jurgen Klopp said: "I don\u2019t think it is a red card. It\u2019s pretty much no contact, very little, and it\u2019s on the way to the ball, but what can I say? <\/p>\n
