Manchester United have been given a major boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday, with Rasmus Hojlund deemed fit enough to make Denmark’s squad for the September internationals.

Hojlund, who arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta for £72million earlier this summer, has yet to feature for the Red Devils after sustaining a stress fracture in his back during a preseason training session with his former club.

United looked toothless in attack with Marcus Rashford leading the line during their 1-0 win over Wolves and 2-0 defeat by Tottenham at the start of the season.

However, with Anthony Martial trusted down the middle against Nottingham Forest, Rashford looked back to his best as he assisted United’s first and won the match-winning penalty in the 3-2 win at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Like fans, Erik ten Hag is eager to have target forward Hojlund fit and available as soon as possible, and his inclusion in the Denmark squad bodes well ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Emirates.

It’s a huge boost for Erik ten Hag, who could have the Dane available to face Arsenal on Sunday

Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand revealed his side have an agreement with Manchester United over Hojlund’s involvement ahead of the international break.

Whether the Dane starts in north London or makes an impact off the bench, Hjulmand is eager for the striker to ‘get some minutes’ and has made that clear to the Red Devils.

‘I have some clear agreements with the club. He [Hojlund] should preferably get some minutes so that we can see that he’s there,’ Hjulmand said after the Denmark squad was announced on Tuesday.

‘He lacks game time, that’s clear, but he’s going to play a role [for Denmark], so we’ll have to see what he can do.’

Fellow Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has also been named in Denmark’s squad

Hojlund was selected alongside fellow Manchester United star Christian Eriksen, who was on target against Forest at the weekend.

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has emerged a shock transfer target for Manchester United ahead of Friday’s deadline, is also named in the squad.

Arsenal will be eager to bounce back after Saturday’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Fulham, who were reduced to 10 men after Calvin Bassey’s sending-off.

The Gunners are one of six teams yet to be defeated in the league so far this season, alongside reigning champions Manchester City, West Ham, Tottenham, Liverpool and Brentford.
