- He’s looking for a club having pinpointed the reason for his Hammers struggles
Jack Wilshere is hunting for a boss who can breathe life back into his career as the fallen England star admits joining West Ham was a mistake.
The midfielder once touted to captain his country was released by the Hammers this summer, having played just 19 games since joining two years ago.
The re-emergence of Wilshere’s ankle trouble disrupted his debut season in East London before failing to impose himself on David Moyes’ XI as the Hammers narrowly avoided relegation last term.
Jack Wilshere has no interest in joining another team in a relegation battle in his next move
After a stunning start the midfielder has been held back by injuries and is now without a club
The Hitchin star has been training alone and is keen for a move away from England next
With his £100,000-per-week Hammers contract ripped up and the midfielder training privately, Wilshere explained what he’s looking for in his next club on the Super 6 Podcast.
‘I’m open to MLS, Europe anything with the right manager,’ the former England midfielder said.
‘I think the good thing about when I went to West Ham was that they brought in Pellegrini who tried to make us a team that had the ball. Obviously that didn’t work out for him.
‘At Bournemouth they had a manager who wanted to try and play and I had a really good year there. When I went to West Ham, I didn’t know it was going to be how it was.
Wilshere had more injuries at West Ham and was not included in boss David Moyes’ plans
The star spoke on the Super 6 podcast with hosts Laura Woods and Adebayo Akinfenwa
Wilshere enjoyed his time at Bournemouth much more, and is looking for the right manager
‘With my experience now, I’d be silly to go and sign for a team who are in a similar position to West Ham.
‘When there is a relegation battle, teams want to nick a point and stay up, nick a goal and try and defend. That’s not the type of player I am.
‘I want to enjoy my football and play 25-30 games a season.’
Wilshere is considering trying ‘something different’ in his next move, considering Serie A and LaLiga alongside a move stateside.
Rangers have also considered a move for the Hitchin-raised star, with Steven Gerrard being urged to make a move for the Englishman.
