West Ham to test Chelsea with loan bid for out-of-favour England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in January
- Ruben Loftus-Cheek has yet to start a top-flight game for Chelsea this season
- Maurizio Sarri has already stated he does not want to let player out on loan
- But Premier League rivals West Ham are ready to put that claim to the test
West Ham are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve over Maurizio Sarri’s assertion that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will not be allowed out on loan this winter.
The midfielder shone for England at the World Cup, playing four times for Gareth Southgate’s side as they reached the semi-finals.
It was hoped that the maturity of his displays in Russia would lead to a sustained push for first-team minutes in the Chelsea team.

However, the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as boss, paired with the impressive form of both Ross Barkley and loan signing Mateo Kovacic, has seen his chances severely hampered.
According to the Mirror, West Ham are ready to give him that chance to prove himself in the top flight, and kick on once more from his performances for Crystal Palace last season.
Despite, not starting in the top flight, Loftus-Cheek has been given his chances elsewhere by Sarri, starting the last two Europa League ties, where he grabbed a hat-trick against BATE at home.
He also scored after coming off the bench in his latest Premier League appearance at Burnley, and his Italian boss is adamant that he wishes to see him develop at the Stamford Bridge, rather than anywhere else.

‘Ruben in October played four matches out of five. At the moment the situation is not for a loan of course,’ he told reporters ahead of the victory against Crystal Palace last weekend.
‘He has improved but needs to improve more from the tactical point of view.
‘Physically, he has great characteristics: he is fast, solid, great impact, technically he is very good but if he wants to play as a midfielder he needs to improve in the defensive phase. The potential is great.’
