Chelsea are still working on a blockbuster deal to sign Declan Rice this summer and they have someone that is of interest to West Ham in a potential player-plus-cash deal. The Blues have been the big spenders this summer having brought in six fresh new signings for more than £200million.
A deal to make Edouard Mendy their seventh signing of the summer is expected to be completed very soon.
But it doesn’t look as though Chelsea’s summer activity is going to end there.
A number of players are expected to leave the club as Frank Lampard looks to trim down his squad.
But multiple reports suggest Chelsea hold a strong interest in bringing Rice back to west London.

The 21-year-old was released from the Chelsea academy back in 2014, going on to join West Ham.
He has since broken through the ranks to establish himself as a regular in the Hammers’ first team and in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
Rice’s impressive rise since making his Premier League debut has led to interest among several elite clubs in England.
West Ham are adamant they don’t want to sell the midfielder, with reports suggesting it would take a bid worth £80million for them to even consider letting him leave.

And while transfer expert Alex Crook believes a move to Chelsea is unlikely, West Ham do have an interest in signing Emerson Palmieri which could help the Blues in negotiations.
“West Ham can’t sell Declan Rice, can’t they? You look at the reaction to the transfer of [Grady] Diangana; if they were to sell another of their perceived crown jewels the fans would be in absolute uproar,” he told talkSPORT.
“My understanding is the owners are desperate to keep hold of Declan Rice.
“Chelsea are still pushing in the background, but it would take a massive offer and I don’t see it happening.
“West Ham need players in; I understand David Moyes is potentially looking at Chelsea left-back Emerson, one of a number of players that could leave Stamford Bridge.
“I think if any club is in need of a spark now, something to get the fans excited, it’s West Ham United.”
Chelsea fans saw their first glimpse of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz in action on Monday with the German duo making their debut in the 3-1 win over Brighton.
Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech are still recovering from injury problems while Thiago Silva was given an extended break due to his involvement in the latter stages of the Champions League.
