Tottenham star Kulusevski to take out ‘anger’ on Man City as Guardiola warned
Ange Postecoglou says ‘we’ll get through it’ after Tottenham are beaten again
Dejan Kulusevski is looking to take out his “anger” on Manchester City after Tottenham picked up their third consecutive Premier League loss against Aston Villa on Sunday. The north Londoners got off to a stunning start to life under new manager Ange Postecoglou this season with eight wins and two draws from their first 10 games.
Their fine form saw them shoot up to the top of the Premier League table but recent results have seen them drop out of the top four. Spurs’ undefeated streak came to an end on matchday 11 when they were reduced to nine men and battered 4-1 by Chelsea.
This was followed up by a 2-1 loss to relegation candidates Wolves and then another 2-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. It seemed like Postecoglou’s men were on course to turn around their fortunes when Giovani Lo Celso opened up the scoring in the 22nd minute but an equaliser from Pau Torres on the stroke of halftime and a well-worked brace from Ollie Watkins on the one-hour mark ensured Villa travelled back to Birmingham with all three points.
Kulusevski was left frustrated by the result and insisted Tottenham will strive to do better against Manchester City next weekend. “I think we have to improve only mentally. Football-wise we are unbelievable, and the coach is doing unbelievable with us. We have to just stay on track, believe in ourselves and keep playing like this.
“I’m just angry. We cannot lose a game like that, so very angry, very disappointed.Honestly, we played unbelievable. The problem is we’ve lost three in a row. that’s the big problem. The way we played, especially the first 30 minutes, we have to play like that for 90 minutes then we cannot lose games.
“Does that give us confidence going to Man City? Yeah, absolutely. We played there a couple of times before with Antonio (Conte) and did well, so it’s going to be a good game.

“I’m looking forward to it – City are a great team but I think we’re a very good team also. I love playing against them, I’ve played them twice and scored two goals. I’m looking forward to doing it again.”
Spurs have one of the best records against Pep Guardiola’s City with seven wins from seventeen outings. Only Liverpool have a better record in the Premier League. But with a new system in place under Postecoglou, it will be an intriguing watch to see if the Aussie’s front-foot style of play can overcome the reigning champions.
