Thomas Tuchel snapped at a journalist after being asked about whether Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness could one day be his successor at Bayern Munich.

The Bayern boss was in no mood for light-hearted questioning ahead of his side’s weekend Bundesliga encounter against Stuttgart and hit back at a suggestion Hoeness could one day replace him.

Stuttgart will leapfrog Bayern into second-place of the Bundesliga standings if they beat the reigning German top-flight champions in Munich on Sunday. Xabi Alonso’s Bayern Leverkusen are currently top of the table.

Hoeness has impressed since being appointed Stuttgart manager in April this year, achieving an average of over two-points-per-game, while Tuchel has enjoyed a similar return since joining Bayern nine-months ago.

The former Chelsea head coach has a contract at the German giants until June 2025 and hit back after being asked about potential future dugout changes at Bayern.

‘You don’t seriously think that I’ll speculate about my possible successor here?’ said Tuchel.

‘I’m here now and who knows for how long. It doesn’t matter what I can imagine. The way Stuttgart plays is impressive, that’s the signature of Sebastian and his staff.’

Tuchel has previously demonstrated he has no time for such suggestions after clashing with Germany legend Lothar Matthaus earlier in the season.

Matthaus at the time was criticising Tuchel and Bayern’s performances, with the pair then clashing on-air in a tense exchange.

Tuchel’s existing contract at Bayern runs until June 2025 and has already won the Bundesliga title with the club

‘You can say whatever you want, but I don’t want to be part of the discussion,’ Tuchel told Matthaus after Bayern’s 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in November.

‘Today we won 4-0, but now you have to do a 180-degree turn. Have fun,’ he added before ending that particular brief interview.
