Thomas Tuchel admits he’s ‘dreamed’ of Chelsea star N’Golo Kante

Thomas Tuchel admits to dreaming about N’Golo Kante. Now he wants the Chelsea star to make his dreams come true.

And the Blues boss is backing his Quiet Man to turn up the volume and help his side roar against Real Madrid tonight.

Kante is well-known to be the shy and retiring type off the pitch – but an absolute terrier once he crosses that white line.

And former Paris St-Germain and Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel admits he’s always wanted to manage the midfielder.

Tuchel said: “He is the guy you need to win trophies, that is why I am so, so happy he is here. I have dreamed about this player, fighting for this player at any club I was coaching at and now he is my player.

“For me he is an example, an unbelievable input for any team in the world. He will be key.

“He is a nice guy, almost a shy person. He is quiet, he likes his own quality time and he is not loud.

“I see him smile a lot, very shy and polite but I am so happy that players like him exist. It is a pleasure to watch.

“What he is doing with his mentality, a real helper, always gives everything to help anybody on the pitch and such a nice, humble and quiet guy.”

Kante made a big noise in the first leg of this semi final as Chelsea drew 1-1 in Madrid to bring home an away goal.

But the Champions League remains one of the few things missing on the CV of a player who has won the World Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

Tuchel said: “He has won many trophies except for the Champions League. I am sure he will be doing everything to get this trophy.

“I see him interact with everybody, but on his own terms. Still he needs to accept that will I cuddle him, I do this a lot!”

Tuchel has also pleaded with his team to keep their cool – but insists they can handle the pressure of being one step away from the final.

He said: “It’s a semi-final, the pressure's on. To arrive with a certain level of belief and self-confidence is absolutely necessary.

“Otherwise we have no chance against a team like Real Madrid. But if I talk about it it's only because I'm sure they feel it.”
