Thierry Henry ‘rattled’ as Kate Abdo puts Champions League pundit on the spot
Football Digest: Arsenal mightn't rue capitalising on Man City's slip ups
Thierry Henry was forced to jump onto the defensive when his taste in fashion was brought into question live on TV, much to the amusement of Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. The popular trio were back in the studio working as pundits for CBS Sports’ coverage of the Champions League Group Stages on Tuesday evening when former Arsenal great Henry unexpectedly found himself under fire.
The show started with Carragher and Richards dancing onto the set in sharp suits and sunglasses to mark an announcement that the network’s Champions League studio coverage is set to be broadcast live from Miami on November 28 and 29 in an event called ‘Destination Miami’.
Show host Kate Abdo and Henry watched with amusement as Carragher and Richards entered the room in their ‘Miami Vice’ rig outs, but it was the former France World Cup winner who ended up coming under fire for his own attire.
Show anchor Abdo said: “Thierry and I did really feel that your Miami Vice outfits could be a little bit better this evening boys but Thierry, I don’t know if you’re aware but there’s been some discussion about your outfit online this evening. A little disapproval.”
“I don’t really care,” snapped back Henry before Abdo read out a post on X (formerly Twitter) from Arsenal season ticket holder @ClockEndH.
She said: “Thierry is my favourite of all time, by an absolute mile. But why the hell is he wearing a jean shirt? With a tie?”
The post drew an audible “oooh” from Carragher and Richards but their fellow pundit soon jumped to his own defence.
Henry said: “I don’t wait for Clock End to tell me what to do. Clock End – whatever his name is – I’m not on social media. That’s why. I don’t care what people think, when it comes to that. Fashion is whatever you want to.”

Spotting his moment, Carragher asked Henry: “It seems like it’s touched a nerve?,” to which the Frenchman replied: “No no, not at all.”
Presenter Abdo then invited Henry to stand up and show the audience his whole outfit so that viewers could see that it was “all working”. But Henry rejected the offer, adding: “I think we have more important stuff to talk about.”
Once the focus was taken off his own fashion sense, Henry was able to relax after seeing his former club move to the top of Group B with a 2-1 away win against Sevilla. The Gunners sit a point ahead of French side Lens after three matches.
