Another game. Another woeful display. Another defeat for Manchester United. That has been the recurring theme at Old Trafford as their season continues to spiral downwards.
Sunday’s embarrassing 3-0 home defeat by local rivals Manchester City in the Premier League was repeated on Wednesday as the holders bowed out of the Carabao Cup to Newcastle by the same scoreline.
Pressure is intensifying on Erik ten Hag’s job at Old Trafford as they sit eighth in the Premier League having lost five of their opening 10 matches and are outside the Champions League knock-out qualification places.
Their next 10 games across the Premier League and Champions League include trips to Copenhagen, Galatasaray, Newcastle and Liverpool while hosting Chelsea and Bayern Munich too.
Club legend Gary Neville has warned Ten Hag could get sacked at the Theatre of Dreams having overseen United’s worst start to a season since the 1962-63 campaign.
