Man Utd: Solskjaer previews upcoming Liverpool clash
Steven Gerrard has sent a special message to Thiago after the Reds midfielder claimed he’d loved to have shared the pitch with the former Liverpool captain. The Spaniard has showcased his star quality on just a handful of appearances for the Reds since making the £20million switch from Bayern Munich last summer.
Thiago arrived at Anfield after months of speculation but has endured a difficult start to life on Merseyside.
He tested positive for Covid-19 at the beginning of his Liverpool career before picking up a knee injury in the Merseyside derby on just his second appearance for the club.
Richarlison clattered into the midfield maestro in the 2-2 draw against Everton and while he remained on the pitch for the rest of the game, Thiago was sent for a scan after the fiery contest.
There was no serious damage but Thiago did not return until the New Year in the 0-0 draw at Newcastle.

Now he is looking to give Jurgen Klopp’s side added impetus as they look to retain the Premier League title.
Speaking in a Liverpool Q&A named #AskThiago, the 29-year-old outlined his dream of playing alongside former Liverpool skipper Gerrard.
After explaining his admiration for Xabi Alonso, Thiago said: “I have massive respect for the story of Steven Gerrard at this club. He changed the club as well.
“I look forward to meeting him. Steven Gerrard is a legend. If I had played alongside him, it would have been a way to learn more football.”

Gerrard, who looks set to lead Rangers to the SPFL title this season, has since responded on Liverpool Instagram.
He wrote beneath the post: “That would have been a pleasure trust me.”
Former Liverpool midfielder Alonso played with Thiago at Bayern and is looking forward to seeing him fully fit for the Reds.
“I have loved watching Thiago Alcantara, the way he has been able to connect with the attacking players, helping to defend with his special qualities,” Alonso recently said.
“He’s a great friend, but above that, he’s become one of the best midfielders. And he’s a fabulous, intelligent, interesting, fun guy to be around in a training session and a dressing room.
“He loves football; he shows that with his personality and with the way he plays. He’s able to connect with his team-mates very easily.
“He’s done it fantastically at Bayern, and I feel that he’s going to do it in the same way at Liverpool, and I love it.”
Thiago was back in the starting XI for the 1-0 defeat at Southampton and should keep his place when Manchester United visit Anfield this weekend in a match that could have a huge say in the Premier League title race.
