Sevilla have parted ways with first-team manager Diego Alonso with immediate effect after their 3-0 LaLiga defeat against Granada on Saturday.
The 48-year-old leaves his post with the Spanish club being dragged closer to the division’s relegation zone and only currently above the drop zone on goal difference.
Alonso lasted just 67 days in his role after being appointed in October and leaves having overseen only 13 games in charge with a record of just two wins. Both of those coming in the Copa del Rey.
Sevilla posted a short statement confirming they had sacked the Uruguayan head coach and will now begin searching for a new permanent replacement.
‘We would like to communicate that Diego Alonso has been relieved of his duties as first team head coach. We thank him for his efforts and wish him the best for the future,’ said Sevilla on their official website.
