Ryan Reynolds’ incredible gesture to Wrexham ace wife with inoperable tumour

Ryan Reynolds has showed his class with a touching gesture to Anthony Forde – whose wife had an inoperable tumour following her brain cancer diagnosis.

The Irish full-back's life was turned upside down last season following the medical news, and he took time out of the Wrexham team. The news quickly made it's way to the Hollywood co-owners, and Reynolds wanted to do something for Forde.

Speaking on the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham, Forde said: "It just didn't feel like it was real. The gaffer told the owners about the news and they reached out. Ryan helped get a second opinion. It's something that he doesn't have to do, he doesn't have to do that."

Laura, Forde's wife, went for an MRI after noticing a problem which found a 'mass', and she was initially told it was not curable.

However, as a result of the second opinion, the original diagnosis was downgraded to a grade 1 Thalamic pilocytic astrocytoma – a benign brain tumour, which is much less fatal than the first verdict.

It was an emotional episode as it followed Forde's return for the Red Dragons, in a crucial home game against Yeovil Town. Ahead of the clash, Forde and Laura can been seen walking up the touchline at the Racecourse, where they exchange warm hugs with the Hollywood a-listers.

Wrexham went onto win the game 3-0, with Forde even finding the net.

Executive director Humphrey Ker described the goal as one of the most 'special' moments in the season.
