Ryan Christie holds ‘positive’ talks over new Celtic deal
Ryan Christie says he has held “positive” talks over signing a new contract at Celtic.
The 23-year-old’s deal is due to expire at the end of the season but Christie, who joined from Inverness in 2015, does not expect there to be any complications in negotiations.
Christie, who has had two loan spells at Aberdeen, has scored in each of his last three games and has earned praise from Brendan Rodgers for his performances.
It is looking positive and hopefully me and the club can come to an agreement quite soon.

“I love being a Celtic player and want to extend my stay here. It is looking positive and hopefully me and the club can come to an agreement quite soon,” Christie said.
“With the contract talks, I had to talk to the manager and he was brilliant and he let me know he saw a future here at Celtic which is all I needed to know.

“That’s all I needed to know and with that knowledge I can hopefully kick on. It’s up to me to kick on but I feel like I am a part of this squad now and can have a big impact between now and the end of the season.”
The attacker insists the Celtic squad will “have a right go” at progressing in the Europa League ahead of their “huge game” against RB Leipzig at Parkhead on Thursday.

The Scottish champions sit third in Group B with three points from their first three group games and were beaten 2-0 by their Austrian opponents on the road last month.
Brendan Rodgers has described the visit of Leipzig as a “must-win” game and Christie believes home advantage will provide a huge boost.
“It’s a huge game, we know that. The boys in the squad know that,” he said. “We’re desperate to get a win at home and want to have a right go at getting out of this group.
“It’s going to be tough. It was tough out there, but we had a lot of positives to take from that game and we’re looking to take that into tonight. We started the game over there well but didn’t really capitalise on that.
“Once we conceded over there, we let the game slip away from us, but it’s about having that confidence, and we’re always confident at home in Europe. They’re coming to our patch now.”
