Roy Keane hilariously ate a prawn sandwich in a TikTok video, with the former Manchester United hardman notoriously coining the ‘prawn sandwich brigade’ phrase during his playing career.
Keane, 52, is regularly seen lambasting United and other teams on Sky Sports, but the Irishman was a tough-tackling midfielder for the Red Devils, while he also represented Nottingham Forest, Celtic and Cobh Ramblers.
He spent 12 years at Old Trafford, making 480 appearances but famously fell out with Sir Alex Ferguson which culminated in his departure.
However, following a narrow 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League in November 2000, Keane slated United fans which led to the ‘prawn sandwich brigade’ saying being born.
He had said: ‘Away from home our fans are fantastic, I’d call them the hardcore fans.

steak & ale pie, prawn sandwich, syrup sponge & custard and a Manchester tart 😋🤤😎 Thank you
‘But at home they have a few drinks and probably the prawn sandwiches, and they don’t realise what’s going on out on the pitch.’
It is effectively a derogatory term for those fans who are at matches to enjoy hospitality and corporate opportunities rather than coming to enjoy the football or support a team.
And in the aforementioned TikTok video – which was shared by Ian Wright – the pair could be seen enjoying lunch out together.
While Wright ate a steak & ale pie, Keane tucked into a prawn sandwich, before enjoying a Manchester tart for dessert.
The pundit jokingly said to a waiter: ‘There’s no calories in this is there?’, while Wright tucked into a syrup sponge with custard in the background.
Keane looked admiringly in the direction of Wright’s dessert before he added: ‘That looks nice that. Is that custard you’ve got there?’.

The pair then agreed that they would cook something together one day.
It’s not the first time Keane has played on his famous ‘prawn sandwich’ phrase, with the 52-year-old utilising it when he helped launched the Red Devils’ new kit in the summer.
Many were surprised to see the former midfielder included in the launch given his acrimonious departure from the club.
However, the end of the kit launch video saw Keane look down at a plate full of prawn sandwiches, before shaking his head in disapproval.
