Roy Keane asks David Beckham ‘who the f*** buys that’ about odd Man Utd purchase

Manchester United icon Roy Keane has admitted he once saw David Beckham with a fancy pen and was left wondering “who the f*** buys that.” Keane and Beckham were team-mates at Old Trafford for 10 years between 1993 and 2003 and helped the Red Devils win six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Beckham became one of the most recognisable faces in the world during his United days as he hit the headlines on an almost daily basis. And Keane has told Beckham’s new Netflix documentary that the former England star had a love of spending.
“He was the first to do it,” said the Irishman. “He certainly upped everyone’s game in the car park, I’ll give him that. He bought a fancy pen. I was like ‘who the f*** buys a pen? Who buys an expensive pen?’ Shirts and clothes and all that I get, but who buys a pen?”
Meanwhile, former United ace Phil Neville has explained that Beckham would be skint the day after he had been paid during his early days in the north west. “David used to get his salary on a Friday, spend it all by Saturday and then spend the next five days waiting for the next salary to get the jeans to match,” he said.

“That is what he was like. Have money, spend it. Have money, spend it. Have money, spend it. Me and Gary [Neville] were like ‘let’s save it for a rainy day.’ We used to put money into a pension and David was like ‘what are f*** are you doing?’”
Beckham made 394 appearances for United after progressing through the club’s academy and bagged 85 goals and 120 assists. He departed Old Trafford in 2003 to join Real Madrid and featured 159 times for the Spanish giants, before spending time with LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Beckham also excelled on the international front and starred for England at three World Cups and two European Championships. The 48-year-old, who is England’s third most-capped player of all-time after appearing a staggering 115 times for the Three Lions, won his final cap against Belarus in 2009.
“I spent my money,” said the former midfielder as he reacted to Keane’s comments. “I liked nice stuff. As soon as we got money, I wanted to buy a nice watch. I signed a contract with Adidas for £50,000 – and I went and bought an M3 for £50,000.”
