Alaba on the agenda: Marca report Madrid’s interest in the experienced Bayern defender
On the Spanish publication’s front page on Thursday morning, they ran with the headline: ‘Alaba on the agenda.’
Marca also report that Alaba has always wanted to play for the Spanish giants, with no reconciliation with Bayern in sight after the Bundesliga champions withdrew their latest contract offer.
Speaking earlier this month, president Herbert Hainertold confirmed: ‘We submitted to David and his adviser some time ago what we think was a very good offer.
‘The answer was that the offer was still unsatisfactory and we should think about it again. We then decided to take the offer completely off the table. This means there is no longer an offer.’
AS also states that any potential deal involving Alaba and Real would not be linked to the future of captain Sergio Ramos.
The Spain veteran is also out of contract in the summer, and PSG are reportedly circling for his signature if he doesn’t sign an extension at the Bernabeu.
Madrid’s pursuit of Alaba follows reports from Diario AS that the Austrian’s representative, Pini Zahavi, made contact with the Spanish giants to discuss the future of the 28-year-old.
Sergio Ramos’s future at the Bernabeu is uncertain with his deal expiring at the end of the term
Zinedine Zidane is looking for defensive reinforcements following a turbulent start to the new campaign, and the addition of Alaba would be very welcome thanks to his versatility.
Alaba is usually deployed as a centre back but he has vast experience of playing at left back and can also feature in midfield.
However, Madrid face fierce competition from his signature from the likes of Juventus, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
Zinedine Zidane is looking for defensive reinforcements regardless of Ramos’ future
Meanwhile, Madrid will soon be hoping to resolve Ramos’ future at the Bernabeu.
The Madrid captain is widely believed to be keen to end his career at the Bernabeu, but his future is mired in uncertainty with his current terms set to run down at the end of the season.
And according to AS, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to tempt Ramos away from the Spanish capital, by offering him a three-year contract worth an eye-watering £18million per season after tax.
