Rashford’s message to Man Utd new boy Diallo after following in his footsteps

Marcus Rashford has sent a welcoming message to Manchester United's new signing Amad Diallo.

The 18-year-old completed his much-anticipated move to Old Trafford on Thursday, after United struck a £37million deal with Atalanta on Deadline Day last October.

The Red Devils were made to wait for Diallo to acquire a work permit for his move, as well as pass a medical and agree to personal terms.

But the final details of the deal were wrapped up earlier this week and the Ivorian winger is poised to travel to Manchester, where he will inherit United's No. 19 jersey last worn by Rashford.

The England star donned the No. 19 for two seasons before switching to No. 10 – and he hopes Diallo can match his meteoric rise from the youth set-up to the first team.

Diallo tagged Rashford in the Instagram post which unveiled his squad number, prompting his new teammate to reply: "Hope it brings you lots of luck bro. See you soon x."

Diallo insisted he is ready for whatever his new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asks of him as he spoke of his delight at sealing his transfer.

He told Manchester United 's official website: “After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United.

"I am hugely ambitious and there is so much that I want to achieve in the game; when I spoke to the manager I knew that I had joined the perfect club.

“This is a really exciting squad with so many great players, I can promise that I will work hard every day to learn from them and give everything to develop my game.

"The coaches have been fantastic since I signed, we have been in touch regularly and they have already given me a lot of great advice.

“I have had time to prepare for this move, both physically and mentally, and I have worked really hard to be ready to make the step up to this amazing club.”
