A married Premier League footballer is alleged to have broken Covid-19 rules to join a cocaine-fuelled gay sex orgy.

It is claimed that the footballer, who cannot be named, took drugs and participated in X-rated activity in the high-end village of Alderley Edge, near Greater Manchester.

Video footage that was allegedly shared on Snapchat from the steamy affair was leaked to Politicalite.

If true, is the latest case of a footballer breaking strict Covid protocol, in a time where Premier League, and UK, cases have been at an all-time high.

During the latest round of testing, 18 cases were reported, which also led to the postponement of two Premier League fixtures.

It is not suggested that any of those testing positive also breached Covid-19 rules.

Both Everton vs Manchester City and Tottenham vs Fulham were called off this week by league officials following a surge in positive cases.

However, after further testing, it is expected that all Premier League games will go ahead this coming weekend.

The Premier League have confirmed that they are not considering a two-week circuit break to stop the spread of the virus.

A Premier League statement read: "The Premier League can today confirm that between Monday 21 December and Sunday 27 December, 1,479 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19. Of these, there were 18 new positive tests.

"Players or club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing."
