Porro’s message to Maddison says it all as Tottenham made to suffer
Pedro Porro’s message to James Maddison sums up how much Tottenham are missing their star No 10 right now. The 26-year-old midfielder is facing a considerable layoff after sustaining an ankle injury during Spurs’ 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday.
Maddison limped off the field at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before half-time as fans feared the worst. Head coach Ange Postecoglou went to confirm that the injury was worse than first anticipated and that Maddison would be out of action into the New Year.
The Englishman was among a long list of players who weren’t available for Spurs’ trip to Molineux on Saturday as they fell to a second consecutive defeat. Postecoglou also had to do without Micky van de Ven and Richarlison through injury while Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero couldn’t play due to suspensions.
It looked as though it would be another routine victory for Tottenham early on as Brennan Johnson put the visitors ahead after just three minutes. However, substitute Pablo Sarabia drew Wolves level in the first minute of second-half added time before a last-gasp winner from Mario Lemina sealed a stunning 2-1 comeback.

Maddison’s absence was felt throughout the Wolves game as a lack of creativity cost the north Londoners dearly. After the match, the former Leicester player sent a message to Spurs fans on Instagram confirming he will need “a period of time” on the sidelines. “The rollercoaster that is football, unfortunately,” he wrote.
“Will need a period of time away from the pitch to get this one right. See you in the new year Spurs fans, I’ll be back better & stronger for sure, promise you that.”

Tottenham were five points clear at the top of the Premier League table after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 on matchday 10 but back-to-back losses in their last two outings have seen them fall to third behind reigning champions Manchester City and fierce rivals Arsenal.
Postecoglou said after the loss to Wolves: “We started well but we could have been a little bit more positive, a little bit more aggressive, particularly with the ball. I have got to temper that with the fact we’ve made so many changes.
“We’re not going to get the same sort of fluency when three of your back four are virtually starting for the first time [this season]. We’ve made a couple of changes further up as well so it’s not going to be as fluid but we could have been more positive.”
Tottenham’s new all-white kit doesn’t deviate from the traditional Spurs style. The fresh look for the 2023/2024 season features navy cuffs and a pattern that runs throughout the kit that is said to be inspired by the music scene and eclectic streetwear of the Tottenham
