Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has warned manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he faces a challenge to keep all his forward players happy following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar sealed a stunning return to Old Trafford last month, and is set for his second debut for the Red Devils against Newcastle on Saturday.
Ronaldo joins the likes of Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani at the club, and Solskjaer could find himself with something of a selection headache in the offensive positions going forward.
Berbatov played alongside a number of talented players during his time at United, and knows all about how fierce the competition for places can be.
And speaking as an ambassador for Betfair, the Bulgarian warned that Solskjaer may find it tricky to keep all his stars satisfied with the amount of game-time they get.
“I think the players love him and are playing for him but he has a bit of a luxury problem with strikers, because there are a lot of strikers there,” he said.

“So his priority is to keep them happy, and how he is going to spread the playing time around the players.
“At the end of the day, I have been in this position myself, and some of the players are not going to be happy even if they have an explanation as to why they aren’t playing, they’re not going to be happy. They want to play.
“The trick for Ole is to find the balance and keep everyone satisfied with their playing time. and this is going to be a challenge.”
Berbatov also believes Solskjaer now has no excuses not to win his first piece of silverware as a manager.
And he is desperate for his old club to go and lift a first Premier League title in eight years.
Berbatov continued: “Now the expectation is high. For the manager and for the whole team, but if the team is not performing we know who is going to take the blame in the end.
“The expectation is very high for Ole to win something. I am going also for the Premier League title, because I want United to return to winning ways. It was 2013 the last time they won the title.
“So this year, if they don’t win any silverware, it’s going to be disappointing and a failure of a season in my opinion.”
United currently sit in third position in the table after winning two and draw one of their opening three games.
After the game against Newcastle they kick off their Champions League group stage campaign with a trip to Swiss side Young Boys.
And they then travel to West Ham on Sunday September 19 before facing them again three days later in the Carabao Cup.
Dimitar Berbatov was speaking ahead of the launch of Betfair’s new VAR-Batov series, where the Premier League legend will be judging the unfair moments in football that affect so many punters. Watch the first in the series on Betfair’s twitter next week.
