Mauricio Pochettino has poured cold water on suggestions he could make an immediate move to Manchester United by insisting he’s ‘happy’ at Paris Saint-Germain.
he Argentine is in Manchester as his Paris Saint-Germain side take on Manchester City at the Etihad tomorrow.
United have made Pochettino their first choice to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked on Sunday less than 24 hours after a dismal 4-1 defeat to Watford.
Reports in the last 24 hours have suggested Pochettino would be willing to leave the French side midway through the campaign in order to take charge at Old Trafford, which would remove the need for United to appoint an interim boss.
But Pochettino has dampened expectations that any move could be imminent by insisting he’s happy with the Ligue 1 giants.
‘I’m happy in Paris,’ said Pochettino.
‘I know the city well both as a player and a coach, I have always lived this type of situation.
‘Things happen and it’s not my responsibility. What I’m going to say if you ask me is that I’m happy in Paris.’
United face Villarreal tonight, with Michael Carrick taking charge for the crucial Champions League group clash.
Carrick’s made a number of controversial team selections, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford dropping out of the side for Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial.
