Antony chased by Brazil team mates after error in training
Manchester United star Antony has released a statement following claims he attacked his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin. Sao Paulo Civil Police and Greater Manchester Police are both investigating the 23-year-old Brazil international following accusations he headbutted and punched Cavallin in a Manchester hotel room.
According to The Telegraph, Cavallin says she was headbutted and punched by the Red Devils player in a hotel room the day after Erik ten Hag’s side had defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League on January 14. And the incident left the DJ and influencer with a cut to her head and damage to a breast implant.
Meanwhile, Cavallin has spoken to Brazilian news outlet UOL, who have published WhatsApp screenshots of conversations as well as photographs of injuries she allegedly sustained during her relationship with Antony. And she has claimed that she was attacked by Antony in June 2022 when she was pregnant on holiday in Brazil.
Antony has also refuted accusations of physical abuse that were lodged with police in Sao Paulo. Cavallin has alleged that her former boyfriend assaulted her in a car and threatened to throw her out of the vehicle while it was moving at high speed. And she ended up losing their baby around 16 weeks into her pregnancy. Meanwhile, Cavallin has called Antony “fickle” and “controlling” and says he had “outbursts of aggression”.

But Antony has responded to the accusations he attacked his ex-girlfriend with a statement on social media. “Out of respect for my fans, friends and family I feel obligated to speak publicly about the false accusations I have been a victim of,” said the winger. “From the beginning I have handled this issue seriously and with respect, providing the due clarifications to the police authority. The police inquest is under cover of justice, and therefore I cannot make its content public.
“However, I can say with confidence that the accusations are false and that the evidence already produced and more to be produced show that I am innocent of the accusations made. My relationship with Ms Gabriela was tumultuous, with verbal offences from both sides, but I never practised any physical aggression.

“Every time, whether in testimony or in interview, she presents a different version of the accusations. Thus, I come to deny the accusations made and inform that I remain at the full disposal of the Brazilian authorities to clarify what is needed. I trust the ongoing police investigation will reveal the truth about my innocence.”
Antony joined United from Ajax last summer after the Red Devils splashed out an initial £82million to prise him away from Holland. The player scored just four goals in 25 Premier League appearances and assisted another two during his maiden campaign in England. He is yet to score or assist this season, despite starting all four of his team’s matches.
On Monday, Greater Manchester Police said: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report. We will not be commenting any further at this time.”
