Man Utd takeover bidders ‘put off’ by Mason Greenwood and two other players
Man Utd train ahead of Bayern Munich clash
Controversy surrounding Mason Greenwood and two other Manchester United stars is dissuading bidders from increasing their offers, according to reports. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain the two key takeover hopefuls, although the Glazers are showing no signs of compromising on their price tag.
Recent off-field issues have made the job that much more difficult for manager Erik ten Hag, who has overseen a torrid start to the Premier League season. The club received fierce backlash when rumours indicated that Greenwood would be brought back into the fold at Old Trafford.
The youngster was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault last October. Greenwood denied the charges and they were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.
The 21-year-old has since been shipped out to Getafe on loan for the season. According to The Times, recent controversies surrounding Jadon Sancho and Antony, as well as Greenwood, are ‘doing nothing’ to draw a higher offer from either Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim.

Sancho has been made to train away from the Man Utd first team after a public spat with Ten Hag. The manager initially called Sancho out for his substandard performances in training, with the player then posting a defiant message on social media outlining his annoyance at being made a ‘scapegoat’.
Antony, meanwhile, faces assault allegations from multiple parties. The Brazilian strongly denies them, and one of the cases relating to an incident in May last year has now been dropped.

Both Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim have submitted offers which value United at more than £5billion. Discussions are ongoing, as they have been for many months, and the Glazers are seemingly unwilling to budge until more money is put on the table.
Alongside the three players in question, United’s dreadful early-season form is also working against the Glazers in their pursuit of an even bigger pay day. Ten Hag’s side are 13th in the table, having lost three of their opening five matches for the first time in the Premier League era.
The manager is under fire for his transfer dealings, too, with Ten Hag’s agent also representing Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat, who were brought to Old Trafford during the summer window.
Fans are invariably keen to see the back of the Glazers, who have become fiercely unpopular figures since their takeover in 2005. United chief Richard Arnold has reportedly assured staff members that the strategic review is ongoing.
