Man Utd suffer injury blow during warm-up to compound misery of Newcastle trip
Manchester United's fitness issues has taken yet another toll after Donny van de Beek looked to have suffered an injury in the warm-up of their clash against Newcastle.
The Dutchman took part in his side's warm-up on Saturday (December 2) night but went down the tunnel and failed to re-emerge on the pitch. The 26-year-old has since been named on the bench for the match in just his fifth appearance in a matchday squad in the Premier League this season.
The former Ajax star has played a mere two minutes in the league in the 23/24 campaign and seen just 21 minutes of action in all competitions.

His bench appearance compounds a miserable trip up north as United were forced to take a three-hour bus journey after their plane was grounded at Manchester airport due to icy weather. Van de Beek's tenure in Manchester increasingly looks like it's coming to an end as boss Erik ten Hag admitted he would allow the midfielder to depart next month.
Speaking prior to the Newcastle fixture, he said: "I can see he has to play for his career and for everything". Since joining in United in 2020 for £35million, he's suffered with form and injury, playing just 62 games for the Red Devils and just 16 Premier League games in his last three seasons combined.

The midfielder was close to joining Real Sociedad this past summer before negotiations broke down as he opened up on the failed move, saying: "I was close to going to Real Sociedad, but at the last minute, the clubs could not reach an agreement."
He's since revealed his determination to leave Manchester in search for regular playing time. "The time comes when a decision has to be made," the Dutchman said. "I have to start playing games very soon, if it’s not possible at United, then I will go to another club.
"I think this is a healthy ambition. I make a good living at United, but money has never been my motivation."
