Man Utd star Rasmus Hojlund accused of ‘unacceptable behaviour’ with Denmark
Man Utd considering five-man forwards list as rivals eye Sancho
Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund was accused of making an “unacceptable” gesture after scoring for Denmark against European minnows San Marino on Tuesday evening. The young forward, who claimed the game’s opening goal in a 2-1 victory, was not pleased with how he was treated by the opposition.
San Marino defenders were called out by Hojlund for ‘targeting’ the £72million United summer signing, as their robust attempts to win the ball were deemed over-the-top. “I feel they targeted me, as you can see at the end,” Hojlund claimed. “I understand Italian and I could hear them saying that they had the idea to crush me.”
One particular incident was singled out on social media as Hojlund was on the receiving end of a coming together that left him on the floor, clutching his lower back. His accusations were backed up by Denmark captain Simon Kjaer, but the United man got the last laugh by scoring the opening goal on Demark’s way to victory.
Hojlund’s stunning finish prompted a telling gesture to the San Marino defence, as he appeared to taunt them by bringing out the ‘shush’ celebration. This did not seem to go down too well with the opposition, who refuted his suggestion that they were deliberately targeting the forward.

When San Marino defender Alessandro Tosi was asked about Hojlund’s comments, he replied: “That’s not true. We only told him that he was not behaving properly. What he did was not necessary. He is a very strong striker, but he was not fair at all.
“I haven’t lost respect for him completely, but we expected better behaviour. His behaviour when celebrating was unacceptable. Hojlund plays in a league against defenders who are far more skilled, physical and tougher than us, so he should be used to these kinds of duels.”f

Four Man Utd players at risk of brutal axe as Sir Jim Ratcliffe criticism made[COMMENT]
Hojlund has already had injury issues at the beginning of his United career, arriving with a back problem that kept him from making his debut nearly a month after joining the club. After that collision which left the Dane clutching his back, there were concerns over a recurrence of an issue that has previously plagued him – having provided an update at full-time.
“I still haven’t seen how my back is doing,” he said. “Right now, I feel it’s okay, but I don’t know how I’ll be tomorrow morning. People know that I’ve had issues with my back before, which kept me out. So, it’s a frustrating situation I’m in now.”
United will be hoping that the challenges from San Marino have not forced Hojlund to spend some time on the sidelines after a string of positive performances, as Erik ten Hag and co will want to name him in the team for the trip to Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
