Man Utd on red alert as Erling Haaland ‘will not continue’ at Borussia Dortmund

Erling Haaland is reportedly set to leave Borussia Dortmund in a move that will spark a bidding war across Europe. The 20-year-old has been in prolific form for the Bundesliga giants, ever since signing for them at the start of 2020.

His brace against RB Leipzig made it 35 goals in just 34 games for Dortmund, as he continues to prove himself as one of the most exciting talents in the game.

Dortmund managed to sign Haaland after Manchester United made a concerted effort to land the Norwegian.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed him at Molde and tried to bring him to Old Trafford, even flying out to Norway to meet him and agent Mino Raiola.

They failed then, but could be given a second chance to seal a move for Solskjaer’s top target, with reports claiming he could be back on the market.

According to Cat Radio, Haaland is set to leave Dortmund at the end of the season, with Raiola looking to find his next club.

Barcelona are another team that have been heavily linked with the forward, after suggestions from presidential candidate Emili Roussaud that a deal was imminent.

His aide, Josep Maria Minguellsa said: “We know all the conditions and if we win, the following day I will call Mino Raiola and we will accept those conditions. I have already advised him of that.

“We have a world-class sports project that is not showing just now, but Emili Rousaud has a plan that will turn this unfortunate situation (at Barcelona) around.”

Raiola subsequently labelled that as ‘fake news’, opening the door for the likes of United and local rivals Manchester City.

Michael Owen has recently suggested that United signing Haaland could signal a new era of success for the club, with the belief he could replicate Wayne Rooney’s feats for the club.

“If you look at the recent past of Manchester United, they’ve been buying a lot of players who are coming into the twilight of their careers,” Owen told Stadium Astro.

“When you look at (Edinson) Cavani, before that (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic, before that (Robin) Van Persie right at the end of his career, and Henrik Larsson even before that.

“So they’ve gone for players right at the end of their career. The last (striker) they bought earlier on in their career, I think, was Wayne Rooney.

“At least then you’ve got a player that is going to last you at least 10 years.

“At the moment, Manchester United have struggled to find that young player that’s going to take them all the way as a No 9.

“I think the one player out there that springs to mind that could be that type of player who could last for 10 years in their team and stop them having to keep buying stop-gaps all the time, is Haaland at Dortmund.

“I think he’s the player on everybody’s lips at the moment, so he is one player I think could potentially be the number nine that could last a long time.”
