Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson ‘told off’ Lioness star during Chelsea win

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson was at Old Trafford to witness the Red Devils defeat Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League last week. And the former United manager reportedly told off England women’s star Ella Toone after she returned to her seat late for the second half.
United were in fine form against the Blues and secured their ninth Premier League victory of the campaign as Scott McTominay bagged a brace either side of a Cole Palmer strike. With the match locked at 1-1 at the interval, Toone made her way back to her seat, which was located in front of Ferguson in the directors’ box. And, according to the Daily Mail, the 24-year-old received a playful telling off from the Scot as the second half had already begun by the time she sat down.
Toone plays her club football for United and has scored one goal in four appearances this season. She also starred for England during the Women’s World Cup earlier this year and started the final as her country were defeated 1-0 by Spain. But Ferguson was clearly in no mood to let her off after her time-keeping faux pas.
Ferguson would have been happy with United’s victory against Chelsea. But one fan on X (formerly Twitter) claimed the 81-year-old had torn into the Chelsea midfield in the directors’ box after he had praised Sofyan Amrabat’s performance. “That’s all very well, but he was up against nothing,” Ferguson apparently exclaimed.

United’s victory over Chelsea saw them move to within three points of the top four. But the 13-time Premier League champions were brought back down to earth three days later as they suffered a 3-0 thrashing to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
And following the defeat at the hands of the Cherries, United boss Erik ten Hag said: “I hoped before the game we could build on the performance and result against Chelsea. So I’m very disappointed about the way we started the game. We did for a long time everything to get back in the game. After 2-0 we broke down so we have to do things better.
