Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus remains in doubt, with speculation continuing to swirl over whether or not he will leave the club this summer. Juventus endured a disappointing last campaign, failing to win the Serie A title for the first time in nine years and crashing out of the Champions League in the round of 16 at the hands of Porto.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, continued his prolific form in front of goal, netting a total of 36 goals in all competitions and ending the season as Serie A’s top scorer.

The 36-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away, with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and former club Manchester United regularly mooted as potential destinations.

Now, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is set to jet to Italy to hold talks over his client’s future.

The report states that Mendes is set to arrive in Milan ‘for his second trip to Italy in a few weeks’, with the agent expected to make ‘contact with the Juventus management”.

It is noted that there are several ‘alternative proposals’ on the table for Ronaldo, with United said to be willing to offer the Portuguese superstar a deal worth €20m (£17m) per season.

However, United are said to be ‘currently focused on Jadon Sancho’, with their interest in Ronaldo categorised as ‘tepid’.

Ronaldo is currently in action for Portugal at Euro 2020 and he has insisted that the speculation surrounding his future “doesn’t really bother me”.

He said: “I have been playing at the highest level for 18 years.

“It doesn’t really bother me. If I was 18 or 19, I don’t think I would sleep thinking about the future. Now, I’m 36. If I’m staying? It doesn’t matter now. What happens will be for the best.

“Now I’m focused on the European Championship, I want to win and I want to have positive thoughts from the first to the last game.”

The 36-year-old has been breaking records at the tournament, becoming the first player to feature in five Euros and overtaking Michel Platini as the tournament’s all-time record goal scorer.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Ronaldo was asked about taking part in his fifth edition of the tournament and he replied: “I’m not overwhelmed, it’s a good record.

“But the most important thing will be to try to win the Euros again. We are working well, since the first training session.

“We are all ready and tomorrow I hope we can start on the right foot. It’s important to start with a win. The fans will be on our side, but it’s nice to play in a full stadium: I’m ready.

“It’s always better to start with a win. But if you tell me that if we lose tomorrow, we would win the European Championship, then I would choose that option.

“However, we are ready, physically and emotionally. Our players are young, I’m convinced we will have a great European Championship and that all the players are ready.”
