Man Utd fan’s shocking Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp stat in Erik ten Hag rant

One frustrated Manchester United fan has highlighted a stat showing the shocking difference between Erik ten Hag’s transfer business and fellow Premier League managers.

The fan compared the way that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp have operated in the transfer window compared to their Dutch counterpart.

There are just two days left in the transfer window and United continue to bumble around in the market with them yet to announce the signing of proposed new goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, along with the demand for a new left-back and centre-midfielder before Friday’s deadline.

While the centre-back position remains unclear after Harry Maguire was blocked from leaving the club owing to a defensive injury crisis.

Ten Hag also has to contend with Bayern Munich’s interest in Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood still stranded at the club despite United announcing he would no longer play for the club last Monday (August 21).

And recent links surrounding United looking at signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg, who Ten Hag previously managed in Bayern’s reserve squad, led to one fan hitting out at the Dutchman and United’s transfer business.

They tweeted: “Apart from Thiago Pep hasn’t signed a single player that he managed at a previous club. Same with Klopp 0 players signed that he managed at a previous club.”

After highlighting Thiago and Guardiola’s links at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the same account then later hinted at a lack of leadership in United’s recruitment team, saying “Both City and Liverpool have directors of football.”

They continued to suggest that Ten Hag’s plans stem from not trusting the United hierarchy, adding: “It’s like he’s basically saying that if you guys aren’t being serious let’s just go with players I’ve already managed, but there’s literally data and top tier analysis these clubs use now to sign players.

“There’s no way guys like Antony should’ve been signed for €100m.”

Ten Hag has already signed former players from Ajax – Lisandro Martinez, Anthony and Andre Onana, whilst little-known Tyrell Malacia also arrived from the Eredivisie in Ten Hag’s first season.

While marquee signings Casemiro and Mason Mount are no hidden gems in the footballing world.

It’s a huge couple of days remaining at Old Trafford this window after an uninspiring start to the season and a restricted budget has already seen United begin talks with Chelsea over Marc Cucurella on a loan deal amid injuries to left-backs Luke Shaw and Malacia.

The Athletic also reports the club are looking to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a loan deal, due to FFP concerns hindering a permanent swoop.
