Man Utd fans mock Steven Gerrard as Luke Chadwick shows off Prem winners’ medal

Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick celebrated his 40th birthday in lockdown while donning his Premier League winners’ medal – and Red Devils fans couldn’t help but poke fun at Steven Gerrard on social media.

Chadwick enjoyed the pinnacle of his career at Old Trafford, emerging from United’s youth ranks to make 39 appearances for the club before leaving to join West Ham in 2004.

The Cambridge man racked up 16 appearances in their 2000/01 Premier League winning campaign, scoring twice and subsequently picking up a precious winners’ medal he still cherishes to this day.

And while celebrating his 40th birthday on Wednesday, Chadwick couldn’t resist getting his most prized possession out.

The former United star posted a picture of him dressed up in lockdown with the medal around his neck and wrote: “All dressed up for the lockdown party – Will be in bed by ten, have drunk a little too much already”.

As well as wishing Chadwick a happy birthday, Red Devils supporters decided to take aim at former Liverpool captain Gerrard – who failed to win the league in his time at Anfield.

One wrote: “Let Gerrard in for a look at that medal pal”.

“Give Gerrard that mate he deserves it,” joked another.

A third commented: “Happy birthday Chadders… Got more Premier league winners medals than Gerrard…!”

“Hooch, WKD and a medal Steven Gerrard would kill for. What a birthday!” said another.

While one simply posted: “Chadwick 1-0 Gerrard.”

Gerrard, who is widely considered one of the greatest Premier League players of all time, never managed to inspire Liverpool to domestic glory.

The midfielder’s slip came closest to winning the title in the 2013/14 campaign, when Brendan Rodgers’ Reds were just three wins away from sealing it.

However, his infamous slip against Chelsea in April 2014 allowed the Blues to open the scoring and eventually secure a 2-0 win at Anfield, with Manchester City eventually getting their hands on the title.

Gerrard did enjoy Champions League success with Liverpool, though, while also clinching three League Cups, two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup.
