Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is set to leave Old Trafford for a free transfer next season. The Englishman returned to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this summer after an outstanding loan spell at West Ham United last season.
In an electric half a season with David Moyes’ men, he contributed an impressive nine goals and four assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers.
His goals, assists, and general dynamism were key factors in the Irons’ qualification for the Europa League.
Many West Ham supporters were left disappointed when Lingard chose to remain at Old Trafford to fight for his place this season.
However, after only seeing 63 minutes of Premier League football this season, it has been reported by The Times the 28-year-old will leave at the end of his contract.

Lingard’s current deal expires next summer, when he will be able to depart the club for nothing.
Talks over a new deal to keep him at Old Trafford have reportedly broken down and both the Red Devils and the attacking midfielder are now resigned to parting ways.
It is understood the United star, who has represented the club at every level after coming through their academy, has no intention of signing a new contract.
According to the report, Lingard’s has grown frustrated at the Red Devils’ behaviour during previous talks.
Contract discussions did not get off to the best of starts when the first deal United tabled was reportedly less than his present salary.

And with any and all prospects of a new deal withering by the day, Lingard’s future appears to lie elsewhere.
It is believed the Hammers are reportedly still interested in Lingard, despite signing Nikola Vlasic for £30m over the summer. And with Lingard unwilling to renew his deal, Solskjaer may even decide to cash in during the January transfer window.
It is also understood the England international, who scored the winning goal for United in the 2016 FA Cup Final, has even considered asking for another six-month loan away from the club.
Competition for places in United’s attacking areas is extremely tough, and Lingard has not been able to break through.

The winger has been competing with Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, and depending on the formation United plays, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho for a first-team place.
But Lingard’s lack of appearances in the Premier League under Solskjaer has been somewhat surprising, considering his impressive record when being brought on from the bench.
He has scored two Premier League goals over the course of five appearances this season, but is yet to feature for longer than 25 minutes of domestic football in a single match.
In addition, he has only experienced 19 minutes of Champions League action this season.
His most recent performance in Europe came via a brief one-minute cameo in United’s dramatic 2-1 home victory against Villarreal at Old Trafford, where he provided the assist for Cristiano Ronaldo’s last-minute strike.
While he has provided some moments of magic this season, his dramatic winning goal against his former side West Ham in September being the pick of the bunch, it is believed he has decided to part ways with the club.
