Man Utd boss Ten Hag receives two injury boosts ahead of Bournemouth clash

Ten Hag gives Man Utd team news update for Bournemouth trip

Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford have travelled with the rest of the Manchester United squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth. And that gives Erik ten Hag a boost, particularly due to the absence of Marcel Sabitzer. The Red Devils will need everybody as they look to finish the season on a high, with a place in next season’s Champions League at stake.

Manchester United go up against Bournemouth looking for a second win in a row after beating Wolves 1-0 last Saturday.

And McTominay has travelled with the rest of the squad, with the Scotland international in contention to start the showdown at the Vitality Stadium.

United recently announced Sabitzer would be out until the end of the season, saying in a statement: “Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has suffered a meniscal injury which will, unfortunately, rule him out for the remainder of the season.”

They added: “Everyone at the club is disappointed to lose Marcel’s services, as the Reds chase a strong finish to the season in the Premier League and FA Cup, and we are grateful for his contribution to our progress so far.”

But with one player out, another is now back in.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense

McTominay can be a divisive figure at times, having blown hot and cold ever since being given his debut by Jose Mourinho back in 2018.

Yet the return of the Scotland international couldn’t have come at a better time as the matches continue to come thick and fast.

Casemiro has looked leggy in recent weeks, even if the former Real Madrid star remains as important as ever at Old Trafford.

Christian Eriksen is still regaining full fitness, having missed over three months of action, while Fred appears to have fallen down Ten Hag’s pecking order.

McTominay last played for United on April 8, scoring in a 2-0 victory over Everton on a sunny day at Old Trafford.

And, now, he’ll be hoping to shine as the Red Devils look to finish in the top four.

There’s been talk of a potential departure for McTominay this summer, with Newcastle believed to be showing interest.

Yet should the 26-year-old impress between now and the end of the season, he could yet end up staying put.

The return of Rashford is certainly a boost, too.

Like McTominay, the England international is back in the fold after being sidelined for last week’s 2-0 win over Wolves.

And Rashford will be hoping to add to his tally of 29 goals when the match down south gets underway.

United will certainly be hoping for a repeat of what happened when they faced off with Bournemouth back in January.

Ten Hag’s side cruised to a 3-0 win over the Cherries, with Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Rashford all on target.

And, speaking ahead of the rematch, the Dutchman has admitted he’s delighted to have Rashford and McTominay back.

“We are really happy at them returning to the training ground, they both did well,” said the 53-year-old.

“This morning Marcus reported ill. We have to see how he will recover during the day and tomorrow.

“Of course, we hope he will be there so just wait and we will see.

“And Scott, yeah if the final training goes well, he will join the squad. I will select him.”
